The Slumgullion
Tour
As an Angletech customer you can join us for a 4-day bike trip in the Colorado Rockies
we call the Slumgullion Tour, named after 11,200 ft Slumgullion Pass. John
Cunningham invited me way back on that first year. I had 14 miles of "training"
under my belt (too many working hours), and headed off for 263 miles of pacing
myself to finish on my V Rex. It was a great experience, John asked if I would
organize it the next year, and the rest is history. 25 Angletech customers, a
SAG wagon, great food, and killer scenery. Cell phones don't work, so you ride
out of civilization for just enough time to forget the every day world. The
stories that happen are as varied as the people. Cats falling out of the ceiling
in the Saguache Creek Lodge, a dog jumping out of a Dodge Ram pickup and over
the top of a couple on their Screamer, a military woman saluting the Alfred
Packer Memorial on the way into Lake City, the always stunning food at the Creede Hotel, the helmet cam recording of John Orlowski descending Slumgullion
Pass, the frozen corpse in the walk in freezer in Saguache, and Steve Hoke
playing his violin at the top of Spring Creek pass as Bob from Kansas descends
away…… Kelvin
